Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 July 2026

1. Who we are

chatPort is a prototype that demonstrates AI over Singapore maritime data. It is built and operated by Shi Han (shkhoo.com) at chatport.dev. For any privacy question you can reach us at chatport@shkhoo.com.

2. What we collect

  • Demo request details. When you submit the “Request for demo” form, we collect the name, work email, company or organisation, role, and use-case description you provide.
  • Chat & map inputs. Questions you send to the AI Chat Assistant and the Vessel Map assistant, and the responses generated, are processed and stored for a limited period to provide the answer and to understand and improve the service.
  • Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics 4, which sets cookies and collects standard information such as your approximate location, device and browser, pages viewed, and interactions on the site.
  • Technical data. Your IP address and a randomly generated browser identifier, used to apply usage limits and protect the service from abuse.

3. How we use it

  • To respond to your demo request and contact you about it.
  • To operate, secure, and rate-limit the service.
  • To understand and improve how the demo is used.

4. Who we share it with

We use a small number of third-party providers to run the service. Each processes only what it needs to, under its own privacy policy:

  • Anthropic — processes your chat and map messages to generate AI responses (privacy policy).
  • Google — Google Analytics for usage measurement, and Google Sheets, where demo-request submissions are mirrored (privacy policy).
  • Telegram — receives a notification when a demo request is submitted (privacy policy).
  • Neon (now part of Databricks) — the database that stores demo-request submissions and short-lived usage counters (privacy notice).
  • Railway — hosts and runs the application, including transient processing and short-lived server logs (privacy policy).

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

OCEANS-X and Mapbox support the service but are not parties we hand your personal data to. OCEANS-X is the source of the maritime data we query — we do not send it your personal information. Mapbox serves the interactive map tiles directly to your browser, which means it receives your IP address as part of loading the map, under its own privacy policy.

5. Cookies

We use two kinds of cookies and similar browser storage:

  • Essential. Strictly necessary to run the service, so they are set without asking: remembering an access session if you sign in, applying usage limits, and keeping your current chat during a visit. These do not track you across sites.
  • Analytics. Google Analytics, used to measure how the site is used. These are set only if you accept them in the cookie banner; until then, analytics runs in a limited, cookieless mode. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via “Cookie settings” in the footer.

You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings; some usage measurement may not work if you do.

6. Data retention

We keep demo-request details for as long as we have a legitimate reason to follow up, and we delete them when you ask us to or when they are no longer needed. Chat and map questions and responses are kept for up to 180 days and then deleted automatically; we may keep aggregated or anonymised information, which no longer identifies anyone, indefinitely to understand trends. Short-lived technical data, such as usage counters, is deleted automatically on a rolling basis. Analytics data is retained by Google under Google Analytics’ own retention settings.

7. International transfers

Some of our providers process data outside Singapore (for example, in the United States). Where that happens, we rely on the provider’s own safeguards for such transfers.

8. Your rights

Under Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) — and, where it applies, the EU/UK GDPR — you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and you may withdraw your consent to being contacted at any time. You can also change or withdraw your consent to analytics cookies at any time via “Cookie settings” in the footer. To make a request, email chatport@shkhoo.com.

9. Children

This service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above reflects the current version.
